Guide to Guangzhou Electronics Markets: Dashatou & New Asia
While Shenzhen is famous for manufacturing, Guangzhou is the global hub for trading electronics. If you are looking for spare parts, refurbished iPhones, vintage cameras, or professional audio equipment, you don't go to a factory—you go to these markets.
Here is your guide to the two most important electronics districts in the city.
1. The Phone Hub: Nanfang Building & New Asia
Located along the Pearl River, this area is a labyrinth of buildings dedicated entirely to mobile phones. It is the center of the world's smartphone repair supply chain.
What to buy: This is the place for LCD screens, flex cables, batteries, housing, and repair tools. If you run a phone repair shop back home, this is your paradise.
📍 Location: Xidi 2nd Road (Opposite Cultural Park).
🚇 Metro: Line 6 or Line 8 to Cultural Park Station (Exit A).
What to buy: Just across the street from New Asia. Focuses on used and refurbished mobile phones (iPhones, Samsung), phone motherboards, and accessories.
2. The Audio & Camera Hub: Dashatou
Dashatou (Highsun) is legendary among photographers and audiophiles. It feels less chaotic than New Asia and deals in higher-value items.
What to buy:
- Cameras: An incredible selection of second-hand DSLR lenses (Canon, Nikon, Sony) and vintage film cameras (Leica, Hasselblad).
- Audio: High-end speakers, amplifiers, microphones, and stage equipment.
📍 Location: Dashatou Road.
🚇 Metro: Line 6 to Donghu Station (Exit B2). Walk about 10 minutes.
3. Essential Tips for Buyers
💰 Bargaining is Mandatory
Never accept the first price. For second-hand goods (especially cameras), inspect the item thoroughly. For bulk parts, prices drop significantly as quantity rises.
MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity)
Unlike factories, these markets have very low MOQs. You can usually buy 1 unit as a sample. This makes it perfect for dropshippers or small repair shop owners testing new suppliers.
Testing
Most shops have testing equipment on the counter. If you are buying LCD screens, ask to test them on the spot. Once you leave the shop, returns can be difficult.
